Chapter 249 (1/2)
Chapter 249: Ma Junjie Pays a Visit
Xiao Feiyu knew that his words had likely soured his previously amicable relationship with Wang Yannian, but he didn’t care. Achieving his goals was all that mattered, and everyone else was merely a tool to him, true to his role as the villain.
As the two of them fell into an awkward silence, a servant entered the living room and announced, “Young Master Xiao, a young man claiming to be Ma Junjie is here to see you.”
Xiao Feiyu frowned upon hearing this. “Ma Junjie? What does he want?”
The servant shook his head. “He didn’t say. He just mentioned he needed to speak with you.”
“Do you need me to step out?” Wang Yannian asked indifferently.
Xiao Feiyu thought for a moment and nodded. “Please go ahead with your matters, Elder Wang.”
Although it was well-known in Donghai’s elite circles that Xiao Feiyu and Wang Yannian were collaborators, he didn’t want Wang Yannian to get involved in his dealings with Ma Junjie.
As for why he considered it a collaboration? The two had a confrontation at a banquet, and Ma Junjie seeking him out could only mean a potential partnership.
After Wang Yannian left, Xiao Feiyu instructed the servant, “Let him come in.”
“Very well, Young Master.”
It wasn’t long before Ma Junjie appeared in the living room. He wore a smile as if visiting an old friend, showing none of the aggression he had displayed at the banquet.
Xiao Feiyu couldn’t help but acknowledge that not everyone in this world was a fool. Take Ma Junjie, for example, who had been adapting his approach in Donghai from overtly aggressive to now more subdued and strategic. Some might call it slippery, others would say he was just emotionally intelligent.
Still, Xiao Feiyu wondered what Ma Junjie wanted with him. While somewhat expectant, he didn’t let it show. After all, Ma Junjie’s approach gave Xiao the upper hand.
“Ma Junjie, what brings such a busy person like yourself here today?”
Ma Junjie responded with a smile, “There’s a saying in the business world: ‘There are no eternal enemies, only eternal interests.’ You’ve heard this before, haven’t you?”
Xiao Feiyu nodded and raised an eyebrow, “So, you’ve come to talk business today?”
Ma Junjie wasn’t surprised by Xiao’s attitude. He smiled and said, “Your issues with Su Lin are well-known around Donghai. The whole world is watching and laughing at you now.”
“So, you mean to say you have a way to help me regain face?”
Ma nodded. “Do you know Li Ziyu?”
“I’m aware. She’s Su Lin’s lover, right? Though they haven’t officially acknowledged their relationship, it’s obvious to everyone. She just secured the agency rights for Su’s family business, making quite a splash. You’re not suggesting I take action against her, are you?” Xiao Feiyu said with a half-smile.
Li Ziyu was a hot commodity now, sought after by many for collaboration. Targeting her would be suicidal.
Ma shook his head, “You might not be aware, but Li Ziyu’s father, Li Tiancheng, and her grandfather, Li Weifeng, are both in Yangcheng.”
“That so...” Xiao Feiyu was momentarily taken aback, then quickly caught on, looking at Ma with a mix of surprise and appreciation, “Ma Junjie, you’re playing with fire here. Aren’t you afraid it will burn you?”
“In other places, perhaps I’d be cautious. But, unfortunately for them, this is happening in Yangcheng. Do you think I’m known as the top young master of Yangcheng for nothing?”
Xiao Feiyu fell silent, his mind racing. Ma Junjie’s intentions were becoming clear: he wasn’t yet over Li Ziyu’s mobile venture. All he needed to do was control her father and grandfather to get a slice of the pie.
But what would Xiao Feiyu gain from this? What did Ma Junjie expect from him? Xiao Feiyu didn’t have time to ponder further. With Ma Junjie right there, his intentions would surely be revealed soon.
