46 Like A Ca (1/2)
Nine never thought she would wake up again. When she had passed out previously, she had thought that would have been the last she would ever be conscious. The runes would have activated and killed her should her body move without her mind controlling it.
Her mind snapped into consciousness instantly, removing any of the waking up process. The difference felt was rather stark, and Nine admired it briefly before getting back to the manner on hand. Her magic automatically scanned her own body, taking note of the changes that had happened within.
Everything felt clearer and starker than before. She could see the faint dust particles that floated in the air clearer. The shades that would have looked the same to her before contained different tones.
She instantly categorised her body, realizing that she was very, very hungry. Her throat burned as she breathed, the magic rushing through her almost gave her a high. She panted as her eyes locked onto Black's prone body, lying there defencelessly without a single muscle moving.
She stepped forward without realizing it before she abruptly stopped, breathing in to steady herself. She instantly regretted that move. Unfortunately for her, Vampires in this world needed to breathe because they were dependant on magic to keep surviving. They could only go without breathing for a brief amount of time, similar to how humans could hold their breath for a while. Unless they learnt some sort of magic that would allow them to imitate turtle-breathing and similarly allow magic and to seep in through their pores instead, they would end up magically crippled for life.
Instead of breathing normally, Nine took slow, shallow breaths. The room had been slowly been filled with Black's scent, diffusing all over the room. Moving wouldn't allow her any respite.
Somehow, she couldn't tear her eyes away from Black's body. Something inside her was yearning for him. It felt magnetic, almost like she was being drawn towards him. A thought occurred to her, causing her to pale. She bit the inside of her cheek, her one show of weakness. Heh. No wonder she wanted to take him from that Vampire Princess' castle.
Calming herself, she acclimatised herself to Black's tantalising scent. The sharp fangs in her mouth that made an appearance retracted themselves as she controlled her bloodlust. Nine ran her tongue over her teeth, noting that her canines were sharper now even though they had been retracted.
Ignoring Black for the moment, she made small movements as she got used to her new body. A single step now carried her an astonishing distance forward even though she looked like she was merely taking a step. Luckily, it seemed like she hadn't grown much when she was still unconscious, so it shouldn't have been too long as her transformation took place. Her body was ten times as strong as it had been previously, and her sight was clearer than it had ever been. Her nose was definitely stronger as well, considering she could smell Black with every breath she took. Before, she could only smell a faint scent like grass after rain.
She leaned over Black as she tried to discern whether or not she would attack him. Luckily, it seemed like she was getting rather used to his scent. Although it still smelled as good as it had when she had just woken, she was slowly bringing her body under her control. He smelt like a mix of a human and Vampire, which aligned with her theory.
She could faintly feel like she would be able to control herself if she met any humans even though she was technically a newborn. She looked at Black with a mix of feelings.
Taking this into account, she supposed it was time to see if she could wake Black up.
As she leaned over him, she could instinctually feel what she was supposed to do. She had to turn him herself, linking herself with him. Then, after the transformation took place, she could awaken him with merely a thought.
